Hello Everyone, I am presenting next week on the truck traffic impacts on Route 7 through downtown. Do any of you take this route regularly and have a comment? Do you have any images or assessments that you would like mentioned? I have some data from cyclists on Brockway, but that is not the focus of this presentation. I do think it is important to mention however as I counted 4 cyclists during my last field survey. This is not a full impact study, but I want to reach out to you for accounts and occurrences that you have witnessed on this commuting route. Thank you for your input and additions to this research. Morgantown Bicycle Plan

Dear Public Officials, I have added Perry Keller and Wes Stafford to the list of recipients of this message and am resending it to everyone so that you all know who's getting it. There are no other changes. Frank Dear Public Officials, Please find attached, the first preliminary Morgantown Bicycle Plan developed by the Bicycle Board. Within the next few days, you will also receive a paper copy. Please review the plan and give me your comments by December 7. We would like to include the plan in a February application to the League of American Bicyclists' for the Bicycle Friendly Community award. Since you are a key stakeholder in the plan, we want you to make it your plan. We will revise it to address your comments. We will ask you to approve the revision before we release it to the public. Please provide me your comments in whatever way is most convenient for you. You could open the attached MS Word document and mark it up using track changes and comments, or you could mark up the hard copy with pen and ink, or you could write your comments in an e-mail message, or you could simply tell me what you think. Thank you for the exemplary completion of the engineering section of the application. I'm amazed at the data you have found and entered! Butch, I uploaded it to the BFCapplication folder in Dropbox at http://db.tt/72JvIyum . I renamed it, Encouragement&EvaluationV02. I also renamed the previous version, Encouragement&EvaluationV01. I don't understand why you can't add a file to the folder. Is anyone else having this problem? Frank D. (Nearly) Final version of "Let's Start Biking"

Good morning, Robby sent me the link to the latest video of "Let's Start Biking" yesterday and I've previewed it and am passing it on for review by the Bicycle Board. I've found 2 minor corrections to be made, but would like to get everybody's inputs and send them all to Rob at once to make the best use of his time. If possible please make the edits in the YouTube comments so everyone can see them and avoid duplicates (150character limit - one edit/comment please) - this requires that you have an account (your Google sign-in). Note that this video is posted so it doesn't show up in a search, you can only view it if you type in the link. Cyclist injured at trail & Green Bag Rd.

Sergeant McCabe, This morning's Dominion Post reported that a pick-up truck struck a 10-year old cyclist riding the Deckers Creek Trail when the cyclist was crossing Green Bag Rd. Can you tell us the direction that the cyclist was heading and the direction that the truck was heading when the truck hit the cyclist? We have pointed out in the past that crossings of paths with roadways are dangerous and that one in particular is blind for the cyclist heading upstream. The article said that the cyclist failed to stop but if he was headed upstream, he would have had to proceed out onto the roadway before he could see if a motor vehicle was coming from his left. As you know, the Bicycle Board has provided several recommendations for improving that crossing including realigning the intersection, installing cyclist activated crossing controls, installing a speed table and improving the signage. You may also be aware that the Bicycle Board has suggested that the pending replacement of Southern States by Walgreens presents an opportunity to implement some of the these recommendations. At the last meeting I offered to draft my knowledge on the questions for the BFC application if I was sent the work that was already done. I did not get anything from which to start. I just read EVERY email sent last night, nope not there. If I can get that in the next couple days, I can have it done before the next meeting, Jan 5. I'm getting old. I might forget things. What the heck?

Is it just me or did most of you just receive a complete wrath of BB messages? Some about a month old. Were the emails sent *just* to the BB sitting in some obtuse queue or where they circling the globe waiting for a port to be opened? Whatever it is, I would have to say it's not good, specially considering what most of the discussion was about. Harrumph. Oh yeah, and Happy Holidays! (Hope you get this before the start of the New Year)
