Hi everyone! October meeting minutes are attached, please let me know if you have any changes or corrections. Our next meeting is *Thursday, November 3 at 6:30pm* in the Public Safety Building. FY 2017 TAP Grant Options

Hello Board, Damien and I had a meeting on Thursday to discuss bicycle-related TAP grant possibilities for this year (intents to apply are due November 15th). This email serves two purposes: to remind Damien and I what we talked about and to continue to review those options with y’all. In no particular order, what’s currently on the table: White Park / Rail-Trail Connector on Don Knotts, Collins Ferry Sidewalk, Mon Blvd Climbing Lane Increased Funding, Campus Connector / Grant St Trail, WV 705 roundabout tunnel, and the Jones Bypass. Please see my attachment for descriptions of the projects and some relevant diagrams. We are soliciting your input. Keep in mind -- the intents to apply are due November 15th. If we are to convince WVU to apply for a TAP grant or two, we need to get on that! Best, Drew

If anyone is interested in riding with 13 or 14 elementary schoolers, our #fRideDay ride can always benefit from an additional chaperone or two. We ride over from 233 Wagner Road at 3:00 or meet at Mountainview Elementary at 3:20/3:25 for the 3:30 departure back to Wagner Road. We generally have two distinct groups based on strength/speed. We have all grade levels from K to 5th. Hi all, Please keep in mind about our approaching deadline (November 18th, 2016) for the WVDOH Transporation Alternatives Intent-To-Apply (ITA). I've attached the FY14 and FY16 ITAs so you can review them and see what information we'll likely need to enter. They're not lengthy forms, but we need to evaluate which project folks want to see completed. Yesterday, at a lunch meeting Drew mentioned a few projects that we could pursue. Once there is a consensus, I'll gladly work to help get the project info onto the ITA online. There was even some discussion about trying to apply for a few projects (likely by different applicants, but related to projects we'd like to see) Drew, can you coordinate with everyone to decide on what project(s) we should prepare ITAs for? However, due to the lengthy time to obtain a fair market value appraisal and to complete the negotiations that accompany property purchase, we encourage applicants to apply only for the initial purchase of the property, and then for Design and Construction Phase awards in subsequent grant cycles. 2. Potential projects located within Economically Distressed Areas or At-Risk Areas as defined by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) are eligible for 100% Federal funding. Drew, Here is the announcement for the 2017 Transportation Alternatives and Recreational Trails Grants. The Intent-to-Apply is due before 5pm on November 18th. This should be discussed at the next meeting to determine if we're going to seek more funds and for what projects in relation to the Bike Plan or other BB projects. As a side note: Assuming that the 2016 grant is awarded, the City will have over $600,000 available for cycling projects including Shared Lane Markings, Bus/Bike Shelters, crosswalks, bike lanes, and some related infrastructure. If that happens, I'd think in the near future we could actually see some cycling projects implemented. Does anyone know when the 2014 funds need to be spent? Drew, would you mind if I asked my WVDOH contacts that I've worked with on the grants?
