Hello Board, Happy Birthday, West Virginia! Please see our attached minutes for the June meeting. Thank you kindly to Bridget for stepping in during the meeting to take notes and for drafting these minutes. Given the July 4th holiday, please complete the following doodle to indicate your availability for our July general meeting: https://doodle.com/ poll/65ht5ayy7eqfmdw3 Project Updates: The city is planning to paint temporary sharrows on various roads as part of the 2017 paving project. We've identified the following corridors as candidates: White Ave, Charles Ave, North Spruce, Allison, Stewart, Jones, Diamond, and Carnegie. Will keep you all updated on their potential implementation. I am requesting that the *Tour de Sharrow committee* restart discussions on the events we need to coordinate to support their installation. As part of the support process for these sharrows, we have formed a *research committee* to develop a methodology and plan for measuring their effects on cycling here in town. The research questions are not yet formed -- if you have an interest in serving on this committee or helping to steer it in any manner, please contact beth.rota(a)gmail.com. *Our first meeting for that committee is this Thursday, 7am, at Terra Cafe*. Finally, we're down to 10 voting members with *seven total vacancies*. We are looking specifically for representatives from South Park, Suncrest, Evansdale, Woodburn, North Hills / West Run, and South Hills/West Sabraton neighborhoods. We are also looking for K-12 / Youth and WVU Student representatives. Thanks! Drew

Pgh Mayor envisions self-driving infrastructure

Pittsburgh Mayor, Bill Peduto envisioning the changes that self-driving cars will bring is acting immediately to reshape Pittsburgh infrastructure: * Eliminate much parking and repurpose parking facilities; * Redesign public rights of way that prioritize bicycles and pedestrian access. “Working together, and starting immediately, we can engineer this mobility revolution to designate future of cities and the best possible outcomes for all.” Please see attached article from Pittsburgh Post Gazette June 15. POSTPONEMENTS: General Meeting Moved to 6/8, Willowdale Photo Opp Moved to Thursday @ 5pm

Hello Board! Changes small and large abound...! Due to a number of reasons both within and out of my / our control, I'm shifting a few imminent events. Please voice your concerns over these draconian measures at our next board meeting on June 8th. Same bat time, same bat place: 6:30-8:30pm in the conference room at the public safety building. Next change: our photo opp for Willowdale has been moved to *Thursday, 5pm*. Please spread the word! It would be great not to have just board members present. I'll make a Facebook post. The DP and WBOY will be notified. **Note that we will not meet *Wednesday (tomorrow) at 5pm* For the photo opp, we'll meet at the entrance to the parking lot at the intersection of Willow and Willowdale, in between Medical Center Dr. and Irwin Streets. Also, bike month is almost up -- have you been logging your miles in the National Bike Challenge? I'm currently sitting at #1 in Morgantown, and I know that can't be right... Finally, please find the *Draft* June agenda attached. Please send me any comments/suggestions/changes before this Thursday and I'll get the agenda out properly that evening. Friends -Wanted to let you all know what we did with the kids at Mountainview this year...a note summarizing the year that I sent the Principal is following...We're working to create an official Bike Club at Mountainview for the 2017-18 academic year, and welcome all help.Christiaan------------- Ms. Collins -Thank you again for all the support this year. Thanks to that support we had at least 15 days on which a student rode to school. Twenty four different children (13 boys, 11 girls) rode to school at least once, including 2 from K, 2 from 1st, 5 from 2nd, 4 from 3rd, 2 from 4th, and 9 from 5th grade! In total they logged ~750 miles and burned ~22,000 calories commuting by bike. No major injuries, and we just secured the help of the city to work with one property owner in the neighborhood across from the school to open up a space to ride on their side yard so that the children will not have to ride on Dorsey at all! A great year! Thanks so much.
