Dear Bike Board Membership,
Next week WVU will be celebrating it's four Transportation Week which promotes alternative transportation modes offered and promoted by the University. Each day is a specific mode in which there are special emphasis. Tuesday of next week will be Bicycle Day.
I was speaking with a colleague at the University of Virginia last week and he was talking about a similar promotion that he offers on their campus. As part of his bicycle promotion, he invites bicycle advocates to come on campus and assist prospective bicyclists with information about bicycle equipment, how to fix for a helmet, adjustments to the bicycle seat, etc. It has been very successful.
The Department had planned on hosting a table across University Ave. from the Mountainlair to provide information that we have on bicycle use on campus. The table will be manned from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If there are any of you that are more familiar with bicycle equipment and correct use of this equipment, I would like to invite you to come and assist with this information. Any vendor that would like to display new bicycles or equipment would be welcome as well.
Please contact me as soon as possible so that we can include this information in the press release.
Thanks for your consideration.
