We forwarded a request to all of the MPO’s member jurisdictions and agencies for projects that would address these concerns. We need to submit the list preferably prioritized to DOH for their analyses on Friday. We received responses from two of our member organizations the City of Morgantown and Mountain Line. In driving the WV 7 corridor it could be argued that the stretch between I-68 and the Hogback turn could all use sidewalk and that the sidewalk from the Hogback to the Walnut Street Bridge needs to be upgraded. In fact that is the recommendation of both Mountain Line and the City of Morgantown. While we concur the entire corridor needs sidewalk we are recommending the proposed project because it would allow the Caperton trail to fill the missing link between the Brookhaven residential area and the commercial area along Earl Core Road. Bicycle Board Members, Chris Fletcher contacted me today to schedule for July 14, the workshop that the BB will conduct with the Planning Commission on bicycle parking and storage. I originally only copied the BB Parking Committee on the message at the bottom of this thread. Only Chip responded. While he provided valuable input, he did not volunteer to take the lead on this. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO LEAD OR PARTICIPATE IN THIS WORKSHOP, PLEASE REPLY ASAP, If someone doesn't step up by Friday to lead this, I will tell Chris then that it ain't gonna happen. He has already discussed this with the Planning Commission and they want to do it. They are also willing to make it the second part of their July 14 meeting which begins at 6:30 pm. The workshop would tentatively begin at 7:30 pm and would best be kept short: say 30 minutes to an hour. Bicycle Board Members, Does anybody know of any WV bike lanes that were funded by the State? As you know, one reason the Mon Blvd. climbing lane is stalled is that the City doesn't have funding for it. In my opinion, the WVDOH snookered the City into even discussing funding it. Since Mon Blvd. is a State highway, the State should be funding it. If we can show them that they've funded bike lanes elsewhere in the state, we'd have a basis to argue that they should fund this one. Frank

The next Traffic Commission meeting is next Wednesday and I plan to present the attached report. Nick, Even though you're no longer a regular member of the Bicycle Board, you continue to be on the mailing list. Former members continue to be on the e-mail list. I was hoping one or more Bicycle Board members would reply to my message. I know that some responded positively to Danielle's initial request. However, if that doesn't happen, unless a Board member objects, as far as I'm concerned, you can have the banner, business cards and bumper stickers. I'll get them to you. Good Afternoon, I would like to extend the invitation to both the bicycle and the pedestrian boards for the inclusion in the Transportation Fair 2011: Commuter Choice. I have previously mentioned the fair during the normal meetings. However, I wanted to invite you to participate in the fair and represent your board(s) by setting up a table or other education session the day of the fair. The fair will be July 1 11:30-2:30. Bike Board Meeting tonight!

Meeting tonight, 6:30 pm at the PSC but NOT the conference room, we'll be in the Training room down the hall. It's looking to be close for the quorum and all that so if you had previously replied to me that you WERE going to be there and now CAN'T make it, please let me know. Really don't want to get on down there and then cancel the meeting cause enough folks aren't there. I know I'd probably rather be eating icee pops and chillin' somewhere cool.
