To be clear, Mike told us that the Club does not and will not accept money from Chesapeake or any other gas company. This omitted a reference to the past, so could be considered misleading, but he did not lie. Then he called and clarified the full story. The Club turned down an additional $30 million that was part of the original deal the Carl Pope made when he was gallivanting around with Aubrey McClendon, Chesapeake CEO.
