RE: Deer hunting with bow and arrow near Cheat Lake
Some residents who own shoreline properties have proposed bow and arrow
hunting for deer on their residential lots this coming October and possibly
November and December. I believe that this is unsafe and a risk to users
of the Lake, be they swimmers, in canoes, in kayaks or other boats.
Fishing boats of various sizes and types use the Lake year around.
If shooting is toward the Lake, then clearly anything on the Lake would
be at risk. If shooting is away from the Lake, then anything on the road
in front of the residence would be at risk. If shooting is parallel to the
road or shoreline, then the other residents that are adjacent would be
at risk. Your thoughts and considerations are solicited at this time.
