Friends,
As many of you are aware, the Wild Monongahela Act was recently introduced without the Seneca Creek area included. Seneca Creek is considered by many to be the crown jewel of the entire Citizens’ Proposal for Wilderness given its high quality brook trout fishery, size, the wildlife habitat protection it affords and world class recreational opportunities it provides. Given some changes to the bill that Governor Manchin has recently proposed, Seneca Creek is now being strongly considered for inclusion in the bill by Congresswoman Capito. However, forces are lining up against this and people who oppose wilderness designation are definitely making their voices heard. A decision on this will likely be made very, very soon and quick action is essential if we are to protect this area. Please put in a quick phone call or email to Congresswoman Capito’s office and:
-Be sure to thank them for cosponsoring the Wild Monongahela Act.
- ask them to add Seneca Creek as well as Roaring Plains East and North to the bill.
-Make sure you tell them where you are calling/emailing from, particularly if you live in the 2nd district….let them know you are a constituent.
Please forward this email to others you know, particularly others who live in the 2nd Congressional District, and ask them to do the same. This may be our last chance to get this special place in the bill! Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your help!!!
