Community Meeting on
Proposed Big Sandy/Bruceton Mills Oil Field Waste Landfill
Friends of the Cheat (FOC) will facilitate a community meeting to discuss
the proposed landfill sited near Big Sandy and Little Sandy Creeks, about 3
miles outside of Bruceton Mills, on Thursday, June 30th at 7 pm at
Bruceton Elementary School.
The meeting will begin with FOC staff sharing what they know about the
proposed facility followed by an explanation of FOC’s concerns related to the
landfill’s proposed location and potential threats to the community and its
valuable natural resources. Following this presentation, FOC will open
the floor to community members to ask questions and voice their concerns.
Anyone is invited to participate, with a special invitation to all Preston
County citizens, community leaders, and elected officials. Bruceton
Elementary school is located on Morgantown Street approximately ¼ mile off the
