Co-Presidents’ Reports from LWVUS Convention

·        Concurrences approved:

o   Protecting the Rights of Immigrants, submitted by LWV-WA

o   Religious Freedom, submitted by LWV-CO (adopted after objections to the rules & re-vote)

·        Key Achievements of 2026 LWVUS Convention

·        LWVWV delegation at LWVUS Convention (photo)

·         Letter to Governor requesting withdrawal of WV National Guard from DC 

·        Email from LWVUS regarding what  State Leagues need to know about mail-in ballot litigation and voter education for the 2026 Midterms (sent separately to Board and Huntington local)

·         Participation in LWVUS August 8 Day of Action in honor of anniversary of the Voting Rights Act

·                       Cards prepared with Delta Sigma Theta highlighting Voter ID requirements     reordered and 1000 cards distributed to local Leagues and members at large

o   MSS contacted LWVWV regarding community conversation in Wood County

o   We lack LWVWV members in Wood County to participate

o   Model for conversations held in Monongalia & Preston Counties:  MSS journalists managed conversation component.  League-MM conducted voter education for attendees.

·        Seek LWVUS endorsement of publicizing Election Protection hotline for voting concerns/issues

o   In 2026 session, HB 4547 & SB 902
