Dear LWV WV Members,
I'm writing to share a resource from the League's recently formed
Legislative Action Workgroup (LLAW). One of our goals is to expand and
improve access to absentee voting. Unlike 2020, you need an excuse to
vote absentee in this election, but many homebound and disable voters
are unaware that they qualify to vote absentee.
Attached is an instructional flier developed by LLAW member Joe Golden
to be placed in Raleigh County Senior Center and distributed through
Meals on Wheels in Raleigh County. Other LLAW members are working with
local senior services organizations to facilitate distribution in their
respective counties. Other counties "participating" in this year's
"pilot project" include Cabell, Monongalia and Jefferson.
We look forward to sharing the results of the pilot with you after the
election and distributing this resource more widely in 2024. In the
meantime, please feel free to share with anyone from this information,
but remember that the Nov. 2 deadline for submitting an requests for an
absentee ballot is approaching fast.
If you have any questions about this project please reach out to LLAW
Chair Judy Ball at balljk(a)aol.com or myself.
Best,
Julie
