I saw it, yes, Jim. I perceived it
as very much a "dog & pony show" for the gas drilling
industry.
I mostly agree with someone else who summed it up
on another list thusly:
" First 15
minutes taken up with a geology lesson. The last half sounded like a couple of
shills for the gas industry. No problems associated with drilling, no natural
gas in well-water, no case ever proven, blah, blah, blah. Nothing to see
here. Move along. "
I was disappointed that, on a public broadcasting TV program called
"The Law Works", there was virtually no discussion of current gas drilling
law and looming likely changes in those
laws.
After the geology lesson, the primary "legal message"
was that if someone wants to lease the gas under your property, or wants to
drill a gas well on your property- even if the gas interests are owned by
someone else- that you should hire a lawyer. And with Ringer, who is a
lawyer, interviewing two other lawyers, I suppose we should not be surprised to
hear the chant to "hire a lawyer, hire a lawyer". While it may be good
advice, a TV program called "The Law Works" could have done a better job of
discussing the legal permutations of it all that make it advisable for land and
mineral owners to have legal representation.
