Unfortunately, the single thing that Jorea Marple is known for among most West Virginians is getting fired. While many will sympathize with her, and even feel she got a raw deal, no one knows her positions on taxes, guns, abortion, the environment, or even "education", (whatever that means).
Goodwin is also an unknown, not many remember that he was a US Senator for a few months, and of those who do, the best that they remember about his is "well, he was a caretaker for Manchin, but he did not screw up too badly".
They might be great people, but would need a significant "get acquainted" period with most West Virginians.
The good news is that Earl Ray has announced he would NOT seek the Senate seat. But it is widely expected to be a bruising primary for the democrats, with a lot of contenders, so early name recognition and a positive perception by voters will be important.
What about Natalie Tennant?

Also found out yesterday the state democratic party has a lot of internal fighting going on now with several staffers being removed from the office in Charleston. We had several delegates at one of the meetings yesterday.
