Dear Paul,
Yesterday, House Republicans, including Rep. Capito, voted to force approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline — at the expense
of working families and the unemployed.
With the clock ticking on the year-end deadline to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits, Republicans are
using this urgency to try to force approval of Keystone XL, and additionally to gut Clean Air Act protections against mercury
and other toxic air pollution.
Even with everything we've seen from this congress, Rep. Capito's vote yesterday was a stunning declaration of her allegiance
to the fossil fuel industry — and we need to hold her accountable.
Call Rep. Capito and hold her accountable for putting the dirty Keystone XL pipeline ahead of American families. Click here
for an easy script and number to call.
The Republicans' are once again playing chicken with much needed benefits on the eve of their expiration by forcing these
"poison pills" into the payroll-tax and unemployment benefits extension bill.
To his credit, President Obama sent a strong message when he threatened to veto the bill before the vote, and Senate Majority
Leader Harry Reid also drew a line in the sand, telling Republicans that he would halt negotiations on another important
year end-spending bill unless Republicans dropped their giveaways to Big Oil and King Coal.
Even the State Department, which has restarted their evaluation of Keystone XL, condemned the Republicans' efforts, saying
that the 60 days to issue a decision as mandated by Republicans would allow insufficient time to conduct their restarted
evaluation of the project.
Still, Republicans are rabid to approve Keystone XL, no matter the cost — to our health, or to the economic stability
of millions of Americas. As negotiations move to the Senate, we need a massive show of opposition to hold Rep. Capito accountable
for this irresponsible vote. Call her now:

Thank you for fighting Keystone XL.
