Anyone interested? I will also forward a query I had and Scott's answer. His proposals and initiatives have been somewhat baffling to me so far...

This one is for a group of people from the states  who want to help SC set state-level goals for the Climate Recovery Partnership. The next email includes some examples.

Subject: NOMINATIONS SOUGHT: State Outcome Teams - Climate Recovery Partnership

Call for Nominations

State Outcome Teams

Climate Recovery Partnership

Deadline: February 13

We are seeking nominations for team members, staff and volunteer, who will play a central role in the development of state-based outcomes for Climate Recovery Partnership (CRP) plans.  These plans will serve as the basis of much of the Sierra Club’s climate and energy work in coming years.  We seek to appoint teams of three to five highly-qualified people for each campaign, representing a diversity of backgrounds and experience.

The work of each team will take place fully within the first half of 2009.  Teams will communicate over email and conference calls, working collaboratively with national campaign teams to create a set of state-level outcomes that complement and enhance the federal-level activity of their respective campaign.

‘Outcomes’ are real-world changes that reduce the amount of carbon pollution, and help to move us toward a clean energy economy.  Examples of ‘outcomes’ are: a) passing state legislation to mandate increased use of renewable electricity sources, b) winning a decision from a Public Utilities Commission to institute decoupling of utility profits from electricity sales, and c) successfully advocating to expand funding for transit.

A pool of funding has been set aside to cover the expense related to chapter staff participation on these teams.

Campaigns

At this time, nominees are sought for the following campaigns:

* Curbing Carbon

* Clean Energy Solutions

* Green Cars, Fuels and Transportation

Learn more about these and all six of the CRP campaigns here: http://clubhouse.sierraclub.org/fundraising/climate-campaign/

Qualifications

Each team will work at a fast pace and under tight deadlines.  Required qualifications include:

* Substantial experience in state and/or local government advocacy and/or organizing.

* In-depth knowledge of the respective policy area.

* Capacity to set aside the interests of their specific state/chapter, and address a ‘nation-wide’ campaign approach.

* Demonstrated capacity to work well in teams, under tight timelines.

* Freedom to devote an average of at least five hours per week to team activity, with peaks of activity at certain times as necessity dictates.

Selection Process

All nomination forms will be reviewed.  The final selection of team members will be decided by Robin Mann (Vice President for Conservation) and Scott Elkins (Director for Chapter Coordination), in collaboration with the lead volunteer and staff member on each campaign team.

Timeline

Nominations are due by Friday, February 13.  Final team selection will be complete by late February.  The work of each team is expected to commence immediately after team selection.
