I had a request from Keryn Newman here in the EP about what environmental points we would recommend for EIS comments.  Is this something the Committee could work on and produce either a list of talking points or a more formal document?

Note that the fedeal agencies do NOT propose to assess the impacts of the entire route, they propose to only evaluate the segments crossing federal lands.  They claim it is the responsibility of the North American Electric Reliablity Council and the WV PSC to protect the environment in those other sections.

We will ant a good turnout at these to demand that the entire project be considered, as demand side management aternatives would be faster, safer, cleaner and cheaper.

Please see the last page of the attached news letter for dates/times. It will be important to get our members to turn out for these! Earthjustice will submit formal comments on the Club's behalf, but individuals and chapters should feel free to submit their own.  New Jersey and PA chapters have already gone through this process for the Susquehanna-Roseland line, so you may want to check in with them for sample talking points etc.(some general ones about considering the whole line, coal-fired power plants, should transfer, although obviously there are different local land issues involved). If you need help with online organizing, please contact Jesse Danzig ((914) 495-3097);  jdanzigsc@earthlink.net, Online Organizing Director.
