Subject: coal to clean energy?
To: COAL-CAMPAIGN-ALERTS@lists.sierraclub.org

Hi everyone,

I'm passing along this note from a Club intern in MI. This information would clearly be great for all of us to have compiled so please send her anything you have that might be useful. She's at sierraclubintern@gmail.com

thanks,

ginny

Hello All.

I am in the process of compiling a report of nationwide examples of how new alternative energy businesses erected out of the ashes of a fallen coal plant.

One Michigan example is Manistee when a coal plant was denied and Mariah began developing the Windspire wind turbine.   With great success and much needed job creation, this company continues to thrive today.  Mariah donated the wind turnbine that currently powers the Michigan Govenor's own residence!

I know there has to be several examples of this transition---or evolution to alternative energy and we want to collect those stories.

Please feel free to repost far and wide and please send information and links to me, Stephanie at: sierraclubintern@gmail.com

I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer!

Have a great day!
