Coal was the main point in our local elections and the fact that I did not support the coal gas plant was even brought up. The coal gas plant was a major campaign issue, and both candidates are trying to outdo each other on coal.

I have however talked with both candidates about the energy plan and the republican candidate said he will look at it if elected, the dem will not vote for it if it has renewable or efficiency in it.

What I'm finding this election: Seems EVERY CANDIDATE is running as a friend of coal, a fighter against the war on coal, etc. Even candidates who've never taken such a position before. Case in point is my delegate Stan Shaver - he was an ally previously, now mailing after mailing is about coal.

I got called into one of Bills conference call last night.  I could not get my question in about if he supported our gas moratorium.  I did hear enough about clean coal and EPA closing WV power plants from him to convince me he deserves nobody’s vote.   But is Tomblyn a prince with all his coronation cash from the coal companies??

Maloney seems to be taking his cues from the Republican Governor in PA, who is also promoting leasing in state parks and forests.  Watch out public lands!

This article by AP reporter Larry Messina, contains just one paragraph referring to any environmental issues:

"Maloney echoed budget-paring steps frequently cited by candidates: running the state like a business, for instance, and targeting waste and abuse. His more specific ideas include increased drilling for natural gas and other natural resources beneath state parks and other public lands."
