Scientists at Purdue
University have teamed up with Google
Earth to create a new interactive map of
U.S. carbon dioxide
emissions.
Google
Earth users can now click to see how emissions from factories, power plants,
transportation, homes and businesses contribute to an individual county or
state’s output. The map can also be customized to show the locations of
power plants and airports.
Zooming
around reveals, for example, that air travel produces nearly half of the carbon
dioxide emissions from Los Angeles
County , Calif.
