EASTERN COAL SELECTED FOR WATERSHED GRANT

The Eastern Coal Regional Roundtable, of Kingwood W.V. was selected by EPA Headquarters as one of the six finalists for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Targeted Watershed Capacity Building Grant. Eastern Coal will receive $404,000 of $3.2 Million available to develop and implement a multi-regional (Regions 3, 4, and 5) and interstate project to train grassroots organizations. The EPA mid-Atlantic region's Office of State and Watershed Partnerships will assist in training the organizations about water quality monitoring techniques and fiscal sustainability in Appalachia's coal country.
