Pledge That You'll Ride on #BTWD

Bike to Work Day is May 20, 2016. Smack in the middle of National Bike Month, it's Bike Pittsburgh's signature, annual celebration to kick off the spring/summer riding season by encouraging people to try getting to work by bike and celebrating bike commuters.

We're celebrating with 5 pop-up Commuter Cafés across the city offering free coffee and breakfast treats to all riders. BikePGH members will ride away with an additional gift and a chance at one of our golden ticket prizes. Excited? Take the pledge to bike to work on May 20th!

Take a Stand Against Speeding

Pennsylvania is the only state in the nation where local police officers are prohibited from using radar to enforce speeding violations. Unsurprisingly, the Commonwealth is also 3rd in the nation for number of deaths linked to speeding.

Ask your state legislator to co-sponsor a bill that would allow local police in PA to use radar to enforce our traffic laws.

92% of Students Want Safer Streets for People on Bikes

Aiming to gauge attitudes of the general student population, University of Pittsburgh students Sylvie Krause and Kyle Blosier conducted a qualitative survey. The results of the survey show that students are eager for Pittsburgh to become a safer place to bike and walk. They also see the need for a variety of solutions: When asked if safe cycling techniques should be taught to drivers as well as bicyclists, almost all gave a firm yes (95%).

Confident City Cycling Comes to Homewood this Saturday

Confident City Cycling classes are three-hour, on-the-bike skills training and instruction to give riders the ability to ride confidently in an urban environment. Plus, they're really fun.

This Saturday we'll bring the class to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in Homewood. Bring a friend! The course is only $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
