Thanks, Derek,

That’s great! I just intended to send out a remind message to the board about the meeting tonight. Please find the attached agenda.

Those are excellent topics. Let’s talk about it tonight.

Thanks,

Jing

Jing and BB Members,

I will be in attendance tonight at the BB Meeting.  Jing, big thanks for setting things up.

As part of the agenda item #6 for Developing ideas on advancing bicycle board in 2015,  I think we should discuss, brainstorm, and develop some actions/outcomes for these questions:

- what are the institutional roadblocks that are occurring or could occur in the future

outcome: list of roadblocks and plans on how to steer clear, reduce, or remove them through communication, etc.

- what are the internal Bike Board roadblocks that are holding us back

outcome:  list of our internal roadblocks and plans on how to avoid them.

- figuring out how other cities' models make these things happen,

outcome: choose BB member to research similar or top cycling cities' infrastructure and how they've made progress.

- who are the key staff and stakeholders that need to be regularly engaged,

outcome: develop list of staff and stakeholders and plans for routine engagement

- how can we more effectively seek and land grants on a planned, regular schedule,

outcome: develop Grant subcommittee to research available grants, timetables to report back to BB and eventually write or steer applicable grants.

- identifying how or if we can have more standing and not just be an Advisory Board.

outcome: determine if we're able to be more than an Advisory Board and appoint a BB member to guide us through the process, if we can become more than just advisory.

It would be great to have some folks with the institutional knowledge of the the Bike Board and City folks for this discussion since I'm a bit limited in answering some of these.  I just want to see more change, a 'sea change' or 'tipping point' and want to feel like the effort we've all put in is reflected in what we see in cycling infrastructure.   Perhaps some of my ideas above may have already been visited (and shot down) by other folks, but I believe we have to ask these questions and develop a plan forward.

Let me know what you think or if that will be too much to fit into tonight's meeting.  Thanks Jing!

Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Jing. The agenda looks good. I can't make meetings on Tuesdays or Thursdays and would like to be involved.

Is there a chance we can move the time of our meetings to a Monday or Wednesday? Also, why not consolidate them into hour-long meetings rather than two for the core group? Folks who need more time could gather before or after to work on special projects that do not involve the whole group. We could always try for a meeting or two and reassess.

Let's get thoughts from a few others and send out a doodle to find an agreeable time.

Happy holidays, all!

Emily
