There is already a street paving plan in the budget.  The $30K is to add consideration of bicycles in that plan.

The only item I think would be wasted money is item 3.  Until we have the rest of the city streets and the rest of the residents ready for kids biking to school I just don't see any use for 1/4 mile of access.  It'd be better for their health if they sprinted that distance every day!

I must ask the other BB members what they think of your comment.  The BB has already reviewed and approved the plan and the priorities.  Priority #3 is: "Establish and mark safe routes to schools extending at least ¼ mile from every school including Eastwood Elementary School, Mountaineer Middle School, Dorsey Avenue Pre-school, Mountainview Elementary School, North Elementary School, Suncrest Elementary and Middle Schools, Morgantown High School, and South Middle School."

I'm not sure what you're advocating since you say thia ia a waste of money.  Are you advocating removing SRTS from the plan?  I also ask what elements of the plan will, "have the rest of the city streets and the rest of the residents ready for kids biking to school "

 
Two non-topic items- as I pedaled past Morgantown High I noted 4 bikes in the rack by the front door!  And, I'd favor including anyone who asks on all our communications and we shoujld promote the idea that any and all should feel free to have input into what we do. (As long as we remain the only paid participants..... heh heh).

Bicycle Board Members,

On April 4, Damien, Chip and Frank met to develop cost estimates for the recommended projects in the Greater Morgantown Bicycle Plan.  This effort is in preparation for an April 17 meeting with Terrence for which he requested the Bicycle Board's recommendation of a set of affordable projects and cost estimates for them.  We developed estimates for the plan's 16 top priority projects.  The attached worksheet, Apr4Est.xlsx shows those estimates.

With your concurrence, we will present the attached to Terrence on April 17.  Please reply at your earliest convenience.
