10 years ago, City Council probably never discussed bicycling and certainly the Traffic Commission was too concerned with stop signs, speed humps and yellow lines to consider how bicycling could change the City.  In preparation for tomorrow night's TC workshop, I just watched a September 30 City Council meeting at which Damien Davis and TC Chair Roy Nutter presented the TC's history and current state.  I was surprised and delighted that practically everyone at that meeting gave positive recognition to the BB.  If this is new to you, maybe you want to watch it: http://morgantown.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=2&clip_id=441 02:40 - 03:11

All,

Attached is a draft of a proposed ordinance for changes to the Traffic Commission.  This was submitted a couple of years ago for consideration by the Pedestrian Safety Board. This ordinance is a good place to start. I would like everyone to review and have proposed revision to discuss at our last workshop. Also attached is the current ordinance. We will meet in the training room at the Public Safety Building at 6:30pm on Dec. 3. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call.

Folks,

Attached is a draft of a proposed ordinance for changes to the Traffic Commission.  This was submitted a couple of years ago for consideration.  And yes Steve, I know it is not in the proper form for it is a starting place.  For those of you who are unaware, we have had a couple of workshops with the commissioners to help determine the future of the Traffic Commission.  This ordinance is a good place to start doing the "wordsmithing" of an ordinance change.  I would like for you to review the attached document and then have a meeting to discus everyone's comments regarding this before anything is taken back in front of the Traffic Commission hopefully for their June 4th meeting.  I can have a Doodle set up for a couple times in the next 2-weeks to set something up if this is agreeable to everyone.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Terry
