Bicycle Board Members,

By the end of the day tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 8, please let me know if you want to work on revising the Morgantown Bicycle Plan and what you want to do.  After I present the plan to the Traffic Commission tonight, I would like to get working on a revision ASAP so we'll have plenty of time to perfect it before we present it to City Council January 31.

One thing is clear to me already:  we will have to prioritize the projects and, if possible, have some kind of budgetary cost estimates when we present the plan to City Council.

So far, we have received comments and/or marked up copies of v09 of the plan from:
- Terrence Moore, City Manager;
- Terry Hough, City Engineer;
- Ed Preston, Police Chief;
- Chris Fletcher, City Director of Development Projects;
- Bill Austin, MPO Executive Directo,r and
- Perry Keller, WVDOT Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator.

Except for Terrence's, you can see their comments at http://db.tt/Bse1rpGr .  (Terrence just asked us to change "City Manager" to "City Manager and/or his or her designee".)

I admit that I was dreading getting comments from these stakeholders but having read their comments, I find them very positive, insightful and constructive.  If you took 15 minutes to scan through all their comments, I think they will energize you as they did me.

Tonight, I will present the plan to the Traffic Commission at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers.  (It would be nice if some BB members were there to help me remember what they say about the plan.)  I don't plan to walk through the plan.  I plan to tell them that it has been reviewed by the key stakeholders, summarize the comments and say that we will revise the plan in response to their and the TC's comments in preparation for presentation to City Council January 31.

I don't know how much of the plan they will have read in preparation for the meeting.  I don't expect they'll have much to say.  I hope they will read it and send us comments.
