Thanks to Derek for doing this!

If you want to see the locations, plug Derek's lat/lon's into http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html

Frank and BB,
I recommend these locations showing lat/longs from Google Maps:
  • Mon Blvd near Coliseum - 39° 38' 56.18"N, 79° 58' 46.09"W
  • University Ave (Rt. 119) - 39° 37' 40.80"N, 79° 57' 35.21"W
  • Westover Bridge (Rt. 19) - 39° 37' 47.21"N, 79° 57' 31.17"W
  • Earl L Core Road in Sabraton (Route 7) - 39° 36' 56.00"N, 79° 55' 16.54"W
  • Cheat Road (Rt. 119) - 39° 38' 48.85"N, 79° 53' 48.38"W
  • Rt 705 - 39° 39' 09.40"N, 79° 56' 11.80"W

One thing that I need clarified is whether we should/can place the signs outside of city limits.  Depending on answer to that, we may need to clarify some of my locations.

Hope this helps.

Bicycle Board Members,

Looks like we're probably going to end up wanting a sign on each major corridor entering Morgantown: routes: 19, 7, 119, 857 and 705.  (Did I miss any?)

I think we need to decide the exact detailed locations that we would recommend erecting these signs.  PLEASE RESPOND WITH ONE OR MORE LOCATIONS FOR WHICH YOU WOULD DEFINE EXACT LOCATIONS,  e.g. latitude and longitude or other similar info that you could give to someone and they could put the sign exactly where you think it should go.  (To say, put it on the Mileground, is insufficient.)  I will collect your recommendations and prepare them for presentation to the Traffic Commission.

Since we only received 2 signs, we'll need to get more.  I'm thinking we could use some of the leftover education grant money, ~$950 to purchase them.  Attached is the order form.  By copy of this message, I'M ASKING DAMIEN IF HE CAN FIND OUT HOW MUCH SIGNS WOULD COST TO MAKE IF WE PURCHASED THE ART ($200) AND RECOMMEND MAKE OR BUY.  (They're 18" x 24", approximately 3/32" thick aluminum and the letters are retroreflective.)

Since all of the corridors are State routes, we will have to work with Fouad Shoukry at WVDOH at least to get permission to erect them.  I don't know how they would actually get erected.  PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU WILL WORK WITH FOUAD TO GET THE SIGNS ERECTED.

That said, I'm not sure the best place that would welcome people to Morgantown on rte 100 (crossing Westover bridge?) or 857 (705 from Mileground as recommended?).
