Bike Route Mapping Team,

We will have approximately $3,000 left in the education grant budget that must be spent before Sep. 4.  I met with Jeff Mikorski today to discuss options.  One is to purchase Bike Route signs.  Another is to print the Bike Route Map.

Purchasing signs is probably more straightforward.  There are standard bike route signs defined in the MUTCD (see attached).  We may also want to purchase directional arrows to go with the signs but this would necessitate knowing where the signs will be located.  The City both makes and purchases signs.  For this task, we probably want to purchase them from a  vendor.  Damien may be able to give us contact info for a sign vendor that the City has used.  Alice, will you take the lead on this?  If not, please persuade someone else on the team do take the lead.

Printing the bike route map will probably be more work.  Decisions will have to be made on size, format etc. in addition to getting a vendor to do it.  Chet, will you take the lead on this?  If not, please persuade someone else on the team do take the lead.  One possible outcome is a decision that it can't be done on time.

Whatever we do, the products will have to be delivered before Sep. 4.

Let's copy at least the other members of the mapping team on our discussion of these options at least until we make a decision whether to pursue one, the other or some combination of both.  Obviously, one factor in our decision will be that we have approximately $3,000 to work with.
