Hello Bike Board (or, rather, previous members of the bike board),

As you can see below, our assistant city manager would like me to solicit feedback on repair stations included with the Hazel Ruby McQuain park renovations.

They are currently planning to install one near bike parking on the walnut landing. Originally they planned to install two - the other was to be installed near bike parking close to the will call office (old bus depot). See the attached drawings for contextual information.

1) Are you okay with just one fix-it station?

2) If so, where would you like it to be located? Preferably this would be one of the two previously mentioned locations, but if you have strong opinions otherwise feel free to share them

3) If not, are you willing to spend monies in the escrow account slated for bike stuff around town to install the second?

Alternatively, if you are willing to spend monies (we have ~$10.5K in escrow), but don't see the need for two fix-it stations in such close proximity, you could voice an opinion to install one somewhere else in city limits. They generally run b/t $1K-$2K. I heard recently that one was supposed to be installed at the new White Park parking area trailhead, but I am unsure of where that currently stands.

Will do. Can you get me a shareable site plan that contains the original two locations with some contextual info?

I'll reiterate that I don't think bike board has seen these plans in any detail and that they may very well have not been aware that two fix-it stations were planned.

I'm guessing they will be happy with one, though I bet they wish it was closer to the rail-trail rather than down on the landing.

Can you please discuss with the Bike Board…

For budget reasons, we had to remove 1 Bike Fix It Station from the design of HRM Park. There will still be one at the Walnut Street Landing Area. The one in the parking lot by the Depot has been removed.
