You may want to consider writing a letter to the MPO & DOH commenting on the potential redesign of the 705/Burroughs/Van Voorhis intersection. The options were presented to the MPO Policy Board in May. Presentation attached. It could be THE opportunity to make substantial improvements to the 705 corridor (Patteson, Van Voorhis, Chestnut Ridge roads)...maybe shared lane or bicycles may use full lane markings/signs?
The Pedestrian Safety Board is drafting a letter this week to present at next week's MPO Citizens Advisory Committee meeting (Frank G is a member as well), including the following points:
1) view the corridor as a project rather than spot improvements;
2) request
public input on plan options;
3) take a more critical look at pedestrian
movement & safety, especially at North ES crossing;
4) link to projects
outlined in our Pedestrian Safety Plan.
