Thanks, Gary.  Can you send us the names and phone numbers of the Judiciary members?  Beyond Judiciary what other hoops does the bill have to clear before it becomes law?  Is there some place on line that we can see the changes to it as it proceeds?

Hello all,

I have good tidings! HB 3021 passed out of House Roads & Transportation this afternoon and is now headed to House Judiciary. Calls to the chair, Delegate Miley, and to all committee members would be helpful. Judiciary must pass this bill by Friday to keep it on track to be voted on the Floor by next Wed and passed over to the Senate.

The 4 ft passing rule was amended to 3 feet. One other amendment passed – I’ll have the language tomorrow to see what else was changed.

Thanks,

Gary Zuckett, WV Citizen Action for WV Connecting Communites

Excellent! I've sent the message out to members of my pedestrian safety board list and contacted Del Barill.
Well done.

Hello WVCC Members -- Our bill, HB3021, is on the House Roads &
Transportation Committee agenda tomorrow at 2:00.
If you have a few minutes, please call as many delegates as you can to
urge their support of the bill. I am attaching talking points just in
case you actually reach a delegate. At this point in the session, you
will likely reach a voice mail or a secretary and will only be able to
encourage support of the bill without giving any reason. Gary and I
tried to get all delegates the talking points and even much thorough
report developed by the Morgantown Bike Board. The biggest question
has been why do not to require all cyclists to ride on the far right
of every roadway (this bill would repeal that requirement); they also
ask why should bikes not be required to use bike paths if one exists
(this would also be repealed). Not much talk about the 4 foot passing
requirement.
Thanks for your help.
