Perry,
I'm writing again in regard to bike/pedestrian access at WV857 on the Ice's Ferry Bridge during construction of the replacement bridge.  First I want to thank you for permitting cyclists to cross during the Winter while construction was stopped.  I've used the bridge just about every day, and have seen other cyclists and pedestrians using it as well.  However, as I understand that construction will begin again on May 1 I would like to know if I can count on continued access across the bridge after that time. I would also like to know that if you give that assurance, it won't be rescinded or blocked by someone else in the department - as has happened in the past.  I am particularly concerned because in the last Dominion Post article about the bridge closure the person speaking on behalf of the department appeared to be unaware that anyone had requested access.

I am concerned about this issue for myself, as I depend on this route to get to work and other activities in Morgantown every day.  However, as a sustainable transportation advocate I am also concerned that bike/ped access to the bridge be maintained for everyone who needs it - as is required by law (unless a practical alternative route has been established).

I have cc'ed this message to the Morgantown Bike Board as many of them also use this route regularly.
Thank you.
