Thank you Hugh.
That is great information, and great progress all around campus!
I would be happy to assist with the administrative side of the locker program as much as possible - and may be able to rope in a couple of facility as well. I think a few of us would also be happy to work with the design team if appropriate, to provide feedback from a user's perspective.
I appreciate your continued work in promoting and supporting active transportation.
See you on the PRT!

Please let me know what we can do to assist Dean Housner in the promotion of the bicycle parking.  I think there is a belief at this time that additional interior parking or secured parking for bicycles should be a part of the project.  I believe that additional conventional outdoor bicycle parking for the CPASS / Student Health can be easily added should the demand exceed the number of spaces available.

I was in Columbus, OH on Tuesday and Wednesday and did get to see some covered parking that the Campus Partners organization (similar to Sunnyside Up) installed along the commercial district adjacent to the campus.  Very nice but on campus we would need to deal with aesthetic considerations to the campus architecture.

Additionally, we are in the process of reviewing bicycle parking on the downtown campus and adding some more parking downtown.  We will be adding about 40 new outside parking "loops" downtown to accommodate the expressed needs.  However, the internal committee dealing with bicycle and pedestrian improvements has made the decision to not do any extensive improvements on the Evansdale campus until the construction flushes out a little better.  Finally, having dealt with the administration of secured bicycle locker parking, it is an administrative nightmare on leasing and access.  Who is administering the locker program needs to identified early so that there is a clear understanding on how it managed.

Hugh & Clem -
I hope you're both doing well. I've engaged Lynn Housner, our Associate Dean, in discussions in the hope of having secure, long-term bicycle parking installed at the new CPASS building. I understand the plans currently only provide for one rack for a building that will be home to hundreds, even thousands of students, staff, and faculty daily. One rack will be insufficient, short-term, not secure, and not sheltered from the weather. I have asked that Dr. Housner look to include a bike locker or gated, covered bike rack for those of us that commute by bike frequently (and have multiple hundreds or thousands of dollars in our bikes). Most of us currently bring our bikes into our offices, which will no longer be an option in the new building - not that it's currently even an encouraged practice in the Coliseum.

Let's please work together to support sustainable, healthy, physically active transportation for the new building for a college of physical activity (ironic, indeed).

Thank you for your attention, and I hope to talk with you more soon.
Christiaan
