I hope everyone is doing okay. During our MRTC board meeting last night (on Zoom, of course!) we discussed the need to do a check of the quality of the surface of the Deckers Creek trail outside city limits. We (finally) received notice to proceed on a 5+ year old DOH grant to resurface a 13 mile section of the trail from Rock Forge to Reedsville, essentially from just east of the I68 overpass east to the end of the trail.

Before we proceed we need to do a thorough check of the surface to identify areas where we're losing width to vegetation, other spots where vegetation has grown up through the surface, and other areas of concern that will be part of the scope of work to prep the trail for the resurfacing.

To do this, our board thought it a good idea to ride the entire length using a GoPro. Thus, I am writing to ask if anyone has a GoPro that they are willing to lend or if someone wants to help us by riding that section with the GoPro.

Many thanks! Take care of yourselves. Rail-trail use is up about 30-40% this March compared with last March (according to our infrared trail counts) despite WVU students being away so much. We love seeing the use and hope you are all practicing proper distancing while on trail.

Be well
Christiaan
