One of the positive, and annoying features of many of the built in features is that much of it is disabled when the car is in motion. I know my mom’s last 2 cars GPS was locked down when the car was in motion. Really annoying as a passenger when I was trying to change settings and figure connect my iPhone to it (it couldn’t be done in motion).
A lot of praises for the new iPhone app Siri being able to do just about anything with voice commands, but it’s still distracting when you’re looking to make sure it’s doing what you’re commanding it to.
I guess the American market is big enough that the Europeans who I understand take driving far more seriously won’t matter, so probably not much help from that perspective.
I would just hope that if the new tech is installed, it’s also logged, so when someone is involved an accident they can be adequately blamed.

I think it's perhaps slightly better than folks trying to use their phones, but not much. I've been in a rental car that had some of those features. I tried using them while in my driveway to see if they were easier to use, but I really think they were just as distracting. I suspect most folks will still work on connecting and setting it up after they get on the road. Not convinced at all. Nothing like good 'ol fashioned driving. Out of the 4 folks that sit closest to me here in the office, 3 and maybe 4 of us have been hit in our cars by people using their phones, and that's just since I started work here in the last 6 months. Unbelievable.
